Fashion photography is a genre of photography that is all about showcasing clothing, accessories, and models in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible. It requires a combination of creativity, technical skill, and an understanding of the fashion industry. One of the most important aspects of fashion photography is lighting. There are several lighting techniques that can be used to achieve different effects.
The technique I like to use for fashion photography studio lighting. I’ve found that that hard light makes the clothes pop and really brings out that texture in the clothes. I learned this from Antwan Maxwell how showed me how this works. My fashion photography is a mix of beauty and fashion, i use mostly beauty lighting which is soft light.
To bring out the details in clothing and in the subject, I mostly use high apertures, somewhere in the F-11 range. You definitely don’t need to go this high, but I’ve gotten used to it .
